Dr. Carolina McBride, C. Psych

Director

 

Dr. Carolina McBride is the founder and Director of the CITC. She obtained her PhD in 1999 from the University of Ottawa after receiving a Master's degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. Dr. McBride received most of her clinical training at the Toronto General Hospital (UHN) and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).   She has worked at CAMH since 2000 in the interpersonal therapy clinic, and was the director of the internship program in Clinical Psychology from 2006 to 2009.  She is an advanced clinician in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy for depression and anxiety, and has been providing psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and groups for over 15 years. Dr. McBride is active in teaching and is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto and has adjunct status at Ryerson University, the University of Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University.  She has trained over 50 PhD students and postdoctoral residents in both psychotherapeutic models.  Dr. McBride has also organized and delivered several workshops for health care workers in the community. She has also published over 30 papers in academic journals, and has been the principle investigator in several governement funded research grants.  Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety (social anxiety, GAD, OCD, panic disorder), chronic health problems, relationship problems, grief, infertility and other women's issues.  Dr. McBride is a licensed member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO), and a member of the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA) and Association for Behaviour and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).  She is also a certified affiliate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapists as well as a member of the International Society of Interpersonal Psychotherapists. 

 

Dr. Michelle Carroll, C. Psych

 

Dr. Michelle Carroll completed her Master's and PhD degrees in Clinical Psychology at the University of Windsor. She has trained in various setting within both Canada and the United States, including the State University of New York (SUNY) - Upstate Medical University, Detroit Receiving Hospital, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, as well as organizations in the Windsor area. She has experience in numerous therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Experiential Therapy. She is an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. Dr. Carroll's primary areas of clinical interest are the effects of personality factors in the treatment of psychiatric difficulties particularly anxiety and depression, complex trauma, as well as the treatment of emotional dysregulation and impulsivity 

  

Dr. Marcie Dudeck, C. Psych 

 

Dr. Marcie Dudeck completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Concordia University, where she also earned her Master’s degree in the same. She received her clinical training in Montreal at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Applied Psychology Centre, and Pavillon Foster Addictions Treatment Centre. Her internship training was completed at the Royal Ottawa Hospital where she divided her time amongst the Anxiety Disorders Program, Mood Disorders Program, and Geriatrics Program.  Dr. Dudeck’s primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She has a particular interest in the application of CBT to the treatment of adults struggling with anxiety disorders (e.g., chronic worrying, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder), depression, and a range of stress-related difficulties.  She is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, Ontario Psychological Association, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and Anxiety Disorders Association of Canada. 

 

 

Dr. Nicola Fitzgerald, C. Psych

 

Dr. Nicola Fitzgerald completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Windsor, where she also earned her Master’s degree. She trained in both Canada and the United States, including the State University of New York - Upstate Medical University, Detroit Receiving Hospital, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, as well as various organizations in the Windsor area. She has worked in a number of therapeutic orientations, such as cognitive behavioural, interpersonal, psychodynamic, and experiential.  Dr. Fitzgerald’s primary areas of clinical interest are depression and anxiety and understanding the patterns that maintain these problems in living.

 

Dr. Laurel Gordon, C.Psych

 

Dr. Laurel Gordon obtained her Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto, where she also earned her Master's degree.  She received her clinical training at the Toronto General Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital, the University of Toronto Counselling and Learning Skills Service, and at The Clinic on Dupont.  Dr. Gordon’s primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with adults.  Her collaborative and empathic approach is guided by attention to therapeutic process and to individual client needs.  Her primary areas of clinical interest are mood and anxiety disorders, loss and bereavement, interpersonal and adjustment difficulties, as well as understanding the underlying patterns that maintain these problems in living. 

 

Dr. Karyn Hood, C. Psych

 

Dr. Karyn Hood is a Clinical Psychologist who obtained her PhD in counselling psychology from the University of Toronto. She completed her clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and University of Toronto.  In 2006 she was appointed Director of Psychology at Cleveland Clinic Canada, a pioneering integrative health care facility in Toronto. Here she developed a comprehensive psychology program with specialty programs in executive health, stress/anxiety management, women’s health, cardiac prevention, and weight and lifestyle management.  Dr. Hood is currently the Director of Psychology for Newtopia, an integrative weight and lifestyle management company. In this capacity she has developed behaviour modification programs for emotional well-being and weight/lifestyle management. (www.newtopia.com).  Dr. Hood is an experienced clinician with extensive experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for depression and anxiety and has been providing psychotherapy to adults and groups for over 10 years.  Dr. Hood has worked with clients with stress and anxiety, mood disorders, relationship difficulties, weight/health issues, and adjustment issues.  She has delivered a number of talks and professional workshops, and has been published in peer reviewed journals. Her research interests include vulnerability and resilience in depression, anxiety and stress. Dr. Hood is a licensed member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO), and a member of the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA) and Association for Behaviour and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).

 

Lorena Hsu, M.A. Psychotherapist 

 

Lorena Hsu completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of British Columbia, and is currently in the process of completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology. She has received clinical training at the University of British Columbia Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, and completed an internship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic and the Psychological Trauma Program. Lorena has been trained primarily in cognitive behavioural therapy with adults, and has worked with both individuals and groups in a variety of settings. Her primary areas of clinical interest are anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, and rehabilitation. Lorena’s research interests include understanding cultural differences in the expression of anxiety disorders.

 

Iryna Ivanova, M.A. Psychotherapist

 

Iryna Ivanova completed her Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto and is currently working on her Doctoral Degree in Counselling Psychology.  She received her clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, the Eating Disorders and Addiction Clinic as well as the Sexual Behavior Clinic; Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Outpatient Mental Health Program; and OISE/UT Counselling & Psychoeductional Clinic. Iryna is trained in Cognitive-Behavioral and Emotion-Focused approaches, and utilizes Interpersonal Therapy and Mindfulness-Based interventions. She has several years of experience working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, concurrent eating disorders and addictions, and personality disorders. She has assisted in teaching Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to other clinicians, and has worked with both individuals and groups in a variety of clinical settings. Her research focuses on the role of emotion regulation in psychological functioning. She is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association.

Dr. Sean Kidd, C. Psych

Dr. Sean Kidd received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2003 from the University of Windsor. He has trained in a range of settings in the United States and Canada including Detroit Receiving Hospital, the Windsor Regional Children’s Centre, private practice settings, and he completed doctoral and postdoctoral placements with the Yale University Department of Psychiatry. He has experience in several psychotherapy approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion Focussed Therapy as both a practitioner and a clinical supervisor. He is an Assistant Professor with the McMaster Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Yale Department of Psychiatry and he has published over 30 papers in academic journals with a focus on psychological risk and resilience among marginalized groups. His clinical interests include depression, complex trauma, anxiety, and chronic pain.

 

Dr. Sandra Lecce, C. Psych

Dr. Sandra Lecce completed Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto.  She received clinical training at the Interpersonal Therapy Clinic - Mood and Anxiety Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Markham-Stouffville Family Life Centre, OISE/UT Counselling & Psychoeducational Clinic, and York University Counselling & Development Centre.  Sandra is trained in Cognitive-Behavioural Thrapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy. She has several years of experience working with adults who have struggled with depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties and other related problems.  Dr. Lecce's area of research interests include the relationship between adult attachment and congitive-affective processing, the development of more effective emotiona regulation skills aimed to enhance intrapersonal and interpersonal functioning.

 

Dr. Andrea Peterman, C. Psych

 

Dr. Andrea Peterman completed her Masters’ degree in Personality Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She has received training at the Mood Disorders Program, The Anxiety Treatment and Research Centre, and the Eating Disorders Program at St. Joseph’s Healthcare (Hamilton, Ontario). In addition, she has also trained in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH; Toronto, Ontario).  Dr. Peterman’s training experiences have included both individual and group interventions for a range of anxiety disorders (e.g., panic attacks, social anxiety, chronic worrying, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder) depression, and eating disorders. She has a particular interest in the application of CBT to the treatment of adults and late adolescents struggling with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and interpersonal difficulties. Dr. Peterman’s research interests include intimacy in interpersonal relationships and the sexual health. 

 

Dr. Meghan Prosser, C.Psych

 

Dr. Meghan Prosser completed her Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto. She received her clinical training at York University Counselling & Development Centre, OISE/UT Counselling & Psychoeducational Clinic, the Psychological Trauma Program at the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health, and the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic at Markham Stouffville Hospital. She is trained in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy and has several years experience working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety (with a particular emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder), and related problems. She has a special interest in the functions of empathy within the psychotherapeutic relationship and in helping individuals learn how to regulate their emotions in healthier, more adaptive ways to enhance psychological functioning.
